Longing for an island escape? Be careful what you wish for.

There are limits. Bordered by water in every direction, islands are places of escape from the ‘real world’. They can be places of hammocks, umbrella drinks and unbridled reading and relaxation. But islands can also be places of isolation, vulnerability. And when claustrophobia seeps in, the incessant licking of tides and changeable weather can feel oppressive, sinister.
