Politicians: if you can’t defeat them, at least you can laugh at them.
A great thinker once said, ‘The problem with political jokes is that they get elected.’ Sadly, you don’t have to look too far to realise the truth behind this statement. The upside is that the corridors of power are wellsprings of comedy gold. From dark horses to lame ducks, muckrakers to pork-barrellers – political satire is where the powerful few get taken down a peg or two. Not that they seem to notice.
