Since 2023, Penguin Random House has been hosting ‘Penguin Noir’: an event for crime fiction readers to come together, hear from authors and have a wonderful bookish evening of thrills and chills.
From the 24th – 27th of March, Penguin Random House will be putting on four events across Australia in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide Hills and Melbourne.

About the authors
Gareth and Louise Ward

Gareth and Louise Ward are the real-life owners of independent bookshop Wardini Books, with stores in Havelock North and Napier, New Zealand. They met at police training college in the UK and are both ex-coppers.
Both are obsessed with their rescue dog Stevie, avoid housework and gardening, and live in the cultural centre of the universe that is Hawke’s Bay, Aotearoa New Zealand. The Bookshop Detectives is Gareth and Louise’s first series together.
Amanda Hampson

Melbourne-based author Amanda Hampson has been writing professionally for more than thirty years and is the bestselling author of nine novels. Her cosy crime series started with The Tea Ladies, which won the 2024 Danger Awards for Best Crime Fiction and was Shortlisted for the 2024 Davitt Awards - Best Adult Crime and the 2024 Ned Kelly Awards – Best Fiction. Her latest novel, The Deadly Dispute will be released early, especially for this event.
Darcy Tindale

Darcy Tindale is an actor, author, theatresports player and director, and has appeared in television commercials, film and on stage. She has written comedy for radio, stage, media personalities, comedians, and theatre restaurants. Her short stories, plays and poems have been published in anthologies, journals, and magazines. The Fall Between is her first novel and it has been called 'rural noir at its very best,' by Candice Fox.
Margaret Hickey

Margaret Hickey is an award-winning author and playwright from North East Victoria. She has a PhD in Creative Writing and is deeply interested in rural lives and communities. She is the author of the bestsellers Cutters End, Stone Town, Broken Bay and The Creeper.
Kerryn Mayne

Kerryn Mayne is an author, former wedding photographer and current police officer. When not at work attempting to solve crime, she is writing about it or preparing an endless stream of snacks for her four children. Kerryn lives in the bayside suburbs of Melbourne with her husband, children and a highly suspect lovebird. She is the author of two novels: Lenny Marks Gets Away with Murder and Joy Moody is Out of Time.
Candice Fox

Candice Fox is the author of eleven crime novels and the winner of three prestigious Ned Kelly Awards. She has also co-written seven New York Times bestsellers with James Patterson, the world’s bestselling thriller writer.
Candice's novels Crimson Lake and Redemption Point were adapted into a major ABC TV series called Troppo. High Wire, published in September 2024, is her latest book.
