What began as a personal project has since transformed into several books and a dedicated fan base who can’t wait to read his most personal story yet.

To learn more about Yung Pueblo ahead of Lighter’s publication, read on.

About Yung Pueblo

  1. Yung Pueblo chose his penname because it means ‘young people’. Keep reading to find out his real name below.
  2. He practices vipassana meditation, a meditation style in which ‘the meditator uses his concentration as a tool by which his awareness can chip away at the wall of illusion that cuts him off from the living light of reality,’ explains Tricycle.
  3. He is much-loved on social media, with 2.3 million followers on Instagram and over 900 million views on TikTok.
  4. On an Instagram post, Diego shared that he usually sits ‘quietly’ behind his pen name Yung Pueblo, but has stepped forward in his upcoming book. ‘I’m glad I did because I think adding my vulnerability made Lighter a stronger book. I’m happy it will soon be in your hands,’ he wrote in the caption.
  5. His favourite word is liberation.

Yung Pueblo quotes

  • ‘falling in love will not fix your life, healing your emotional history will’

Age, name and bio

Yung Pueblo’s real name is Diego Perez. His birthday is November 25, 1988, making him 33 years old. When Diego began practising vipassana meditation, he was drawn to writing, with which he ‘aims to support the healing of the individual,’ the bio on his website reads. ‘When we release our personal burdens, we contribute to a global peace.’

He began his Instagram account in 2015, and has seen a constant uptick in followers since then. Lighter is his third book and his most personal yet. Split into chapters, it covers topics like letting go, emotional maturity, self-love, healing and so much more.

His new book, Lighter

Who better to explain his new book than Yung Pueblo himself?

He recently wrote about it on an Instagram post:

‘Lighter is a non-fiction hardcover book that goes heavily into my personal struggle and story while also going into serious detail on topics like relationships, letting go, self-love, emotional maturity and the different difficulties that are common on the healing journey.
‘The purpose of Lighter is to demystify personal transformation and to go deeply into the understandings you gain as you cross more profound thresholds of healing and freedom. Lighter also goes a step further to connect personal transformation with global transformation.’

Lighter comes out 5 October 2022. Until then we recommend following @yung_pueblo to keep abreast of the latest updates.
