The Personal Penguin has been shortlisted for a 2025 Mumbrella award

We’re excited to share that our Personal Penguin figurine for Love Your Bookshop Day 2024 has been shortlisted for a Mumbrella award.

In 2024, we created the Personal Penguin figurine as a gift-with-purchase for anyone who purchased two or more Penguin books on Love Your Bookshop Day.

The figurine, an adorable 5-centimetre penguin standing on a book, quickly became beloved amongst booksellers and readers alike, making for many heartwarming moments as readers came out to celebrate their local bookshops.

As it turns out, this little Penguin also won the hearts of the marketing industry, earning a spot on the 2025 Mumbrella Awards shortlist

The annual Mumbrella awards showcase the ‘marketing, media and PR industry’s best and brightest companies,’ and it’s an honour to see our little Penguin in the running. This is the first time in the history of the awards that a book publisher has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Retail Media’ category, and the widespread love and recognition of the Personal Penguin goes to show that great things really do come in small packages!

The partnership between Love Your Bookshop Day, an initiative by BookPeople, and The Personal Penguin was a huge success in 2024 and we are delighted to let readers know that a new Penguin Collectable will be available as part of the 2025 promotion. Stay tuned for more details, coming soon.
