About

PETER GRESTE ON THE GLOBAL WAR ON JOURNALISM

Before the twin towers were attacked on 9/11 journalists were embedded behind enemy lines in hotspots around the world, often engaging with ‘the enemy’ in face to face interviews and exclusively reporting from behind enemy lines. While it was dangerous and risky then, it is barely even possible to contemplate doing now. In the last decade or so the rules have changed. Trust in the media has been lost. Fake news is prevalent. And journalism has become a dangerous game.

Join us for this thought-provoking discussion with one of Australia’s finest foreign correspondents Peter Greste as he looks at how the role of the media has changed in the global War on Terror – and the urgency with which we need to support impartial, balanced and accurate reporting in a war where there are no frontlines and no clear battlegrounds.
