At Penguin Random House, we are committed to sustainability across all levels of our business and a key part of this is giving staff the time and opportunity to give back to our environment. Our Green Team runs initiatives throughout the year for staff to come together in practical ways to make a positive impact. From Clean Up Australia Day to Tree Planting Day, World Bee Day and more, we are proud to celebrate some of the inspiring events PRH staff participated in across 2025–26.
Clean Up Australia (2026)
Every year, our North Sydney, Southbank and Dandenong South offices participate in Clean Up Australia Day. We love caring for our environment, bonding with our team and getting out in the sun! This year, our Southbank team had Clean Up Australia day at Alexandra Gardens. It was a beautiful day where the team collected many bags of litter around the area. PRH supports Clean Up Australia’s mission to inspire and mobilise communities to care for and protect our environment, eliminate litter and end waste.

Penguin Foundation (2025)
The Penguin Random House team headed down to the iconic Penguin Parade in September, to support the conservation work being done to protect the little local penguins. They got to work planting 1,000 carefully selected native plants in a designated conservation area. These plants will play an important role in helping to
shade and cool penguin burrows, while also reducing the severity of potential bushfires. Penguin Random House has had a long-standing collaboration with the Penguin Foundation in Philip Island, and we love supporting the organisation to protect the world’s smallest penguins.

Tree Planting
Last October, Sydney PRH staff headed to Fred Hutley reserve to participate in our annual Tree Planting Day with the North Sydney Council. National Tree Day was founded in 1996 by Planet Ark as a call to action for Australians to give back to their environment. It has grown into the largest community tree planting and nature care event in Australia. We worked on mulching to suppress weeds and protect native plants, identifying coloniser weeds and cutting them off at the roof and planting new native wildlife. PRH is proud to have supported National Tree Day for several years now, in fact we planted trees in 2023 and weeded the same area in 2025!
