What to read before watching 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves'

Read the official prequels before you watch the movie.

Calling all Dungeons & Dragons fans, Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is just a few weeks away!

If you simply can’t contain your excitement, we don’t blame you. With its star cast list, hyped-up trailer (featuring Aunty Donna, naturally), and high early rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say that D&D fans across Australia are on the edge of their seats waiting for March 30th to roll around.

If you’re one of the many people eagerly anticipating the movie’s premiere date, we’ve got some good news for you: there are two prequel books out, and yes, Chris Pine's and Sophia's Lillis faces are on the cover.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Druid's Call, the official young adult prequel, introduces readers to Dungeons and Dragons’ newest heroes. With a focus on Doric, the book lays out her powerful druid origins that echo through the book and film.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Road to Neverwinter, the official adult prequel, uncovers the origin stories of the bard Edgin, the barbarian Holga, and their whole adventuring party.

Following Edgin through his realisation that his life is a mess, his chance encounter with Holga, and his road to redemption, the book lays out what happens before the story that we’ll soon see on the silver screen.

After watching the movie, readers can also get a behind-the-scenes look in The Art and Making of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, coming 25 April 2023. As the official companion to the film, the book features cast and crew interviews, photos and insights into the filmmaking process.

The books:

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Druid's Call by E.K. Johnston

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves: The Road to Neverwinter by Jaleigh Johnson

The Art and Making of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves by Eleni Roussos
