Penguin Random House wins Publisher of the Year 2026

Penguin Random House has won Publisher of the Year at the 2026 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIAs). The 2026 ABIA have just been announced and we are beyond excited to share that Penguin Random House has been awarded Publisher of the Year marking our third consecutive win - and fifth in six years!

We’re excited to announce that Penguin Random House (PRH) has been named Publisher of the Year at the 2026 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIAs).

The annual awards celebrate the achievements of authors and publishers in bringing Australian books to readers. The winners are reviewed and chosen by a judging panels of industry professionals, and were announced at an award ceremony in Sydney.

In addition to winning Publisher of the Year, we were so proud to see two of our books take home awards.

2026 ABIA winning books

Book of the Year for Older Children (Ages 13+)

Wandering Wild by Lynette Noni

Bestselling Australian author Lynette Noni turns her hand to contemporary romance in this swoony YA novel, perfect for readers wanting a high stakes lost-in-the-wilderness adventure brimming with tension-filled romance.

Literary Fiction Book of the Year

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy

Dominic Salt and his three children are caretakers of Shearwater, an island not far from Antarctica and home to the world’s largest seed bank. But with sea levels rising, the Salts must pack up the seeds before they are transported to safer ground.

Then during a storm, a woman washes up on shore. As they nurse the woman, Rowan, back to life, they must decide if they can trust each other enough to protect the precious seeds in their care. And if they can put the tragedies of the past behind them to create something new, together.

PRH was also awarded Marketing/Publicity Campaign of the Year for the Cherry Lam Colouring Book Series.
