Announcing new Monica McInerney adult and children’s books

To be published in 2020 and 2021.

We are thrilled to announce a new novel from one of Australia’s most beloved authors, Monica McInerney.

The Godmothers will be released for Christmas 2020 and excitingly, in 2021, Monica’s first foray into children’s books will be published.

Ali Watts, Monica’s long-time publisher, said, ‘We are beyond delighted to be publishing Monica’s new standalone adult novel, The Godmothers, in October 2020. A new Monica McInerney novel is always a major publishing event, and this heartfelt story about strong women and fractured families is Monica at her best. It will be sure to delight her generations of adoring fans.’

Laura Harris, Publishing Director – Young Readers, said, ‘I always hoped that Monica would one day write a book for children because her love of family and wonderfully drawn characters has always been a hallmark of her writing. Not only did she deliver a book with heart and humour and full of love, it exceeded all my expectations – which were very high anyway – and I can’t wait for the world to see this side of Monica.’

Monica McInerney said, 'I'm thrilled to be working with the brilliant, Indie-award-winning Penguin Random House team on my 13th adult novel and my first children's book. I know my stories and I couldn't be in safer, more professional or more enthusiastic hands.’
