About

Memoir needs a distant and close-up view, especially when looking at identity. Our panel will showcase stories of growing up and explore how young authors have recorded personal histories.

Local author Bastian Fox’s book, How to Be Between, is a memoir about female facial hair, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and negotiating identity for those visibly between gender binaries. Maywunyo Gboogbo tells her story of a church-going African Australian girl growing up in Muswellbrook in Hip Hop & Hymns. Cadance Bell’s book The All of It is a wild coming-of-gender memoir that will leave you understanding a little more about trans people, rural Australia, family and millennials.
