Alice-Miranda Takes The Lead

Alice-Miranda 3

The tiny girl has two schools to save in this awfully lovely adventure.

Alice-Miranda is thrilled to be back at school, where the girls are preparing a play with the neighbouring boys' school. But it's not all glitter and stage lights: there are rumours of a witch in the woods, and Jacinta and Millie are clashing with a rude new student, Sloane, and her pushy mother, September. September Sykes wants to win her family the fortune she's sure it deserves, but her scheme could end in disaster. When Alice-Miranda learns of the plot, she knows just how to set things right.

About the author

Jacqueline Harvey

Jacqueline Harvey worked in schools for many years but has had a passion for storytelling since she was a child.

She is the author of the popular Alice-Miranda, Clementine Rose, Kensy and Max and Willa and Woof series, which have sold almost two million copies in Australia alone. In 2022, she released a picture book, That Cat, illustrated by one of her former students, Kate Isobel Scott. Jacqueline's books have received numerous shortlistings and awards while her picture book, The Sound of the Sea, was a CBCA Honour Book.

Jacqueline speaks to thousands of young people at schools and festivals around the world, and says the characters in her books are often made up of the best bits of children she’s met over the years. While she is not a twin, like Kensy and Max she does have excellent powers of observation and has always thought she’d make a great spy.

Jacqueline lives between Sydney, Australia, and Queenstown, New Zealand, and is currently working on more Willa and Woof adventures, several picture book projects and an exciting new middle-grade story.

Praise for Alice-Miranda Takes The Lead

A nicely complex plot involving odd rules at neighbouring boy's school, Fayle, rumours of a witch in the forest, and the greedy scheming of September Sykes, make for an enjoyable and entertaining school story with a difference.

[The] third Alice Miranda title is as fun and amusing as the first two, thanks largely to the irrepressible protagonist, Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones, a spunky seven-and-three-quarter-year-old with a taste for adventure. A modern take on the classic boarding-school narrative that offers a lot of fun and adventure to younger readers
