Known for her compelling storytelling and richly drawn characters, Fiona McIntosh will discuss a key character from The Soldier's Daughter in her talk as part of the Brisbane Writers Festival. Violet Nash grows up amidst her father Charlie's shattered dreams after his return from the battlefields of WWI. As they seek a new beginning in Tasmania, Violet discovers her talent for whisky distilling, but the shadows of war and secrets from the past threaten their future. As WWII rages, Charlie is drawn back to the battlefields, leaving Violet to fight for his legacy. Free. Bookings required. For adults. Arrive 6:00 PM for a 6:30 PM start.
