Following the booked out dinners with Manu and Christine Manfield, the Club is delighted to welcome Scott Pickett, award-winning Chef and television presenter, renowned for his mastery of incredible flavour combinations. Scott and Chef Karl will combine to select a delicious menu from Scott’s new book Marriage of Flavours (Penguin Random House), which shares 80 irresistible recipes for flavour-driven dishes that celebrate Australian produce through the seasons – and the secrets that make them so successful.
The marriage of contrasting and complementary flavours has driven Scott Pickett’s way of cooking since his laudation by judge Bruno Cerdan at age 18 at the Salon Culinaire international competition. Scott Pickett’s respect for the classics then drew him to Europe in the late 1990s, where he honed his skills in some of London's most rigorous Michelin-starred kitchens, including Paul Bocuse and The Square .
Returning to Melbourne, he worked at Langton’s, Matteo’s, The Point and Ondine, before opening his own Melbourne restaurants, the highly acclaimed Estelle Bistro, Saint Crispin, Pickett's Deli & Rotisserie and Matilda.
Scott is also an experienced television personality. In 2015, Scott worked alongside renowned UK author, food writer and journalist Tom Parker Bowles as co-host on the Channel 9 reality cooking series Hotplate. Outside of cooking, Scott is actively involved in the charities Anglicare and the Stroke Foundation.
Scott will be in conversation with Catriona Jackson, who has been writing about food and food culture for 35 years, in a wide range of publications, including the Canberra Times, Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide (Regional Editor) and Vogue Entertaining and Travel. Catriona is Chief Executive of Universities Australia but food remains her greatest single interest.
Predinner drinks and canapés will accompany book signings by Scott from 6:15, with dinner and accompanying wines starting at 7:00 PM. Book signings will also take place after the dinner.
