Diversity & Inclusion
Our Commitment
Penguin Random House Australia is committed to diverse representation and supporting staff’s wellbeing in a workplace where they all belong. PRH is proud to publish books representing diverse and emerging voices and celebrating all that makes us human.
Our Pillars
We recognise it is important to respect unique differences and to have a balance of backgrounds and experiences that reflect the broader community. |
We foster an open and welcoming culture where everyone is valued, accepted and empowered to express their true selves. |
We support a secure and safe environment, where everyone is able to be their healthiest selves and perform at their best. |
Policies
To make sure we are actioning our commitment to diversity and inclusion, PRH has implemented some workplace policies to support our staff. Some policies include the ability to swap public holidays, as part of our Leave Policy, that allows staff to substitute an Australian public holiday for another of their choosing that may be culturally or personally significant to them.
Other policies include, but are not limited to, our Transgender Policy (for staff who may be in the process of reaffirming their gender), Parental Leave Policy, Hybrid Work Policy and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Diversity Policy.
Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
Penguin Random House Australia recognises and celebrates the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work, and we extend that respect to all elders past and present. PRH supports the commitment to reconciliation as outlined in our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, as well as other initiatives throughout our business.
PRH has included an Acknowledgement of Country in all of our locally produced books and audio books, and has permanent Acknowledgement of Country plaques in our offices throughout Australia. All our offices procure stationery and catering from First Nations owned companies, verified by Supply Nation.
Our staff actively engage in National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, as well as volunteer at events for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF), one of our charity partners.
