About the author

Julie Goodwin

Since becoming Australia’s first MasterChef, Central Coast mum-of-three Julie Goodwin has become a household name. Formerly an IT professional, she wrote a monthly column for the Australian Women's Weekly for ten years, is a bestselling cookbook author.

In 2015 Julie appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and in 2016 Julie she joined the Central Coast's Breakfast Weekday Show with Rabbit, 4 years’ worth of laughs and positivity.

In 2022 ‘Jules the OG’ burst back onto our screens in ‘MasterChef Fans and Favourites’ with that same quick-witted sense of humour and trademark honesty. She wowed the Judges (again) with her classic but perfectly executed dishes, securing herself a spot in the top 5, and Australia fell in love with her all over again. This time it wasn’t just her cooking that had Australia talking, but also her openness and willingness to share her struggles with mental health over the past decade. Using her privileged position of profile, Julie has vowed to keep the conversation going and is working with Beyond Blue.
Her first cookbook, Our Family Table, is one of the highest selling cookbooks in Australian history.

Praise for Your Time Starts Now

Goodwin can write as well as she can cook, and this candid memoir had me both in fits of giggles and waterfalls of tears … I fell a little bit in love with Goodwin because of this book.

Herald Sun

Honest and moving.

Canberra Weekly

Takes the reader behind the facade of celebrity status and, by extension, the celebrity industry … she also provides, along the way, a vaguely Orwellian account of the MasterChef house, which emerges as a kind of culinary boot camp. This memoir is unpretentious and frank.

Sydney Morning Herald

In this unflinchingly honest memoir, Julie details the roller-coaster that her life became, with the pressure cooker of the MasterChef kitchen, separation from family and instant celebrity.

Australian Country

It’s not a huge stretch to suggest that Julie Goodwin is the Margaret Fulton of the 21st century.

Lemon Diva Cupcakes

These punchy little lemon cakes remain one of my favourite memories from Season One of MasterChef. They won me a mystery box challenge and became one of my most-requested recipes.
