This is not your typical rural romance. The author covers some pretty heavy topics including domestic violence, racism and dark secrets. This offers the opportunity for readers to reflect on one’s own beliefs and realise that Australia still has a long way to go when dealing with these too often hidden issues. The characters have enough depth to make the storylines believable and relatable and the story is fast paced with adrenaline-pumping final scenes to keep readers interested until the very last page.....I found The Mallee Girl to be an exciting ride through high country.
