Fans of Belinda Murrell’s time slip tales will not be disappointed with her latest addition to the sries . . . This is a thoroughly engaging story . . . Murrell’s artful and thoroughly researched crafting of setting, her cast of believable characters, and her bent for interesting plot twists will keep this book securely in the hands of the reader until it is finished.

I haven't enjoyed a junior fiction read so thoroughly or as much as I did The Ivory Rose for quite some time. Perhaps it was the local setting of Annandale in Sydney. Perhaps it was the time slip theme as Jemma found herself suddenly in 1895. Perhaps it was the well-drawn, believable characters. Or perhaps it was the strong, warm-hearted, likeable Jemma. It was all of the above!

This light, easy-to-read novel will tie in well with topics on Australian history in the Society and Environment learning area and the Australian curriculum.
