Prison Ship

A gripping historical adventure, set in the late 1800s in Australia, where justice for the young is anything but just and rebellion might be their only chance at freedom . . .

Robert Newton at his very best – high-stakes adventure that explores the vulnerabilities, strengths and friendships between young boys facing seemingly insurmountable odds.

Arrested for ‘borrowing’ a book, Edward Corrigan is sentenced to twelve months imprisonment aboard the Virtue, a floating prison for boys anchored in Port Phillip Bay, off Williamstown, Melbourne. He is thrown into a brutal world of hard labour, cruel punishments and the terrifying authority of the Chief Warder. But soon an unbreakable bond forms between Ed and the other boys. Through humour, fierce loyalty and daring acts of rebellion, they fight to keep hope alive and their humanity intact.
