Our favourite bookshops might be places of quiet escape, of learning, enlightenment, of deep and unyielding longing. They are holders of information, crossroads of communication and wellsprings of latent emotion. With recommendations, free delivery, phone orders and virtual book clubs they've even kept us entertained and informed during a pandemic.
