'A collection of vibrant recipes'
Daily Telegraph

Packed full of delicious, satisfying recipes and loads of meat wisdom, Carneval promises to give you a better understanding of how to source, cook and appreciate the meat that you eat. Full of delicious meat recipes from around the world, popular family favourites, such as Swedish Meatballs and Ragu Bolognese, rub shoulders with more unusual dishes, like Middle Eastern Kibbeh and Chinese Kung Pao Chicken.
Whether you want to master the art of a perfectly cooked steak, or transform cheaper, tougher cuts into silky, melt-in-the-mouth delights, Harry Eastwood encourages you to honour the whole animal and eat meat with joy and moderation. The very best way to do that is to make sure that every meat meal is a Carneval.

About the Author

Harry Eastwood

Harry Eastwood first came to the public’s attention in 2007 when she co-presented Channel 4’s popular prime-time television series Cook Yourself Thin. She later went on to present the 20-part US version of the show on Lifetime network and is the author of three other cookery books, Red Velvet & Chocolate Heartache – which has sold more than 42,000 copies, The Skinny French Kitchen – which was nominated for the prestigious Guild of Food Writers Miriam Poulnin Award for Healthy Eating, and A Salad for All Seasons.

Famous for her imaginative and unusual approach to food, Harry’s focus remains the creation of original and reliable recipes that work every time. Her most recent TV series have included Fox’s Baking Good, Baking Bad and Sinful Sweets, which aired on Cooking Channel USA.

Harry is especially well known for successfully sneaking vegetables into cakes. What may come as a surprise is that she has also been researching meat in all its aspects for more than 15 years. Her passion for butchery and all meat matters even took her to Smithfield Market where she moonlit as an apprentice butcher in her early twenties. Carneval is the result of this colourful journey.

Harry lives in Paris.

Praise for Carneval

“The most thoughtful treatise on meat eating that I’ve read for a long time. After the recent crop of aggressively carnivorous publications, it’s refreshing to be urged to eat less but better. (That said, looking at the recipes, you’ll need self-control.)”

Felicity Cloake, Guardian Books of the Year

“Harry Eastwood's passion for all things meaty has resulted in an encyclopaedic knowledge of cuts, cooking and accompaniments - and a collection of vibrant recipes”
