We’re so excited to welcome romance author Darcy Green to chat about their new novel 'After the Siren'.
Two teammates get off on the wrong foot, but might just stumble into love. Jake thinks Theo is attractive. Theo thinks Jake is a colossal pain. When they’re forced into training together, they don’t expect to find friendship, let alone something that looks a lot like dating. 'After the Siren' is a rom-com about inconvenient attraction, second chances, and the joys of AFL.
Darcy will be joined by writer and literary critic, Charlee Brooks.
Darcy Green is a queer romance author based in Melbourne/Naarm with a love for AFL and rom-coms. Darcy grew up playing in amateur women’s teams which provided a safe, queer space. ‘After the Siren’ shows a contrasting view of Darcy's experiences, and highlights the difficulties many modern athletes face around queerness and masculinity in sports.
Charlee Brooks is a Melbourne-based poet, writer, literary critic, and the founder of Grandpa’s Book Club. His work explores identity, memory, and queer intimacy. He is currently working on his debut novel.
Copies of 'After the Siren' will be available for sale on the night.
