About

Join writer Drusilla Modjeska and artist Julie Rrap in conversation with Deborah Hart, Head Curator, Australia Art, NGA, about Drusilla Modjeska’s new book, A Woman’s Eye, Her Art.

A Woman’s Eye, Her Art considers how six extraordinary women artists of the twentieth century recast the ways in which women’s bodies could be seen and how they reframed the narrative of the art world.

Drusilla Modjeska examines why these women still matter and, in the vein of her seminal and bestselling work Stravinsky’s Lunch, connects their past to our present. She celebrates the work of Julie Rrap in relation to the Surrealist women of the 1920s and 1930s – many of whom disappeared from view after the war, only to be rediscovered by the women artists of the 1970s, Rrap among them.
