We initially fell in love with Julie Goodwin on the first season of MasterChef in 2009. Her simple honest food resonated with so many of us. After winning the show, Julie went on to write a regular column for Australian Women’s Weekly, was a presenter on the Today show, published numerous cookbooks, hosted an award winning breakfast radio show and was even seen making her signature cupcakes in the jungle on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! What we didn’t see was the mounting pressure of success. Julie struggled with depression, anxiety and addiction; eventually finding herself in a mental health facility.
