Anfield . . . apart from the family home, I’ve spent more time there than anywhere else in the world. It is the beating heart of Liverpool FC and I count my blessings that I’ve been able to view it from so many different perspectives. Supporter, apprentice, player, captain, coach, assistant and caretaker manager and pundit.
As a lifelong Red, it’s where I’ve enjoyed some of my happiest memories and fulfilled my wildest dreams. I’ve endured the occasional disappointment along the way too, but I wouldn’t swap the times I’ve had there for anything. It has always been and will always remain so dear to my heart.
Since the birth of the club in the working-class Merseyside neighbourhoods of 1892, the stadium has witnessed triumphs, tragedies and more miracles than anyone can count. Thousands of stories have been burnt into its fabric to create the legendary atmosphere within its walls that is revered around the world today. Anfield is a legendary destination with a rich and constantly evolving history of good times and bad, of games and goals, of trophies and tears. It’s about people, supporters, players and managers. Moments and memories.
