Irish Princess Isolde is certain that she will be married to a King worthy of her, and she believes that King might just be Sir Palomides – if only he could find it within himself to conquer a small Kingdom for her, and convert to Christianity. But her plans are shattered when Palomides is shamed and defeated in tournament combat by Tramtrist - a mysterious knight whose name bears an uncanny resemblance to Tristram, who murdered her beloved Uncle.

Tramtrist doesn't want her hand in marriage but what he does want is to deliver her as a bride to his Lord, King Mark of Cornwall. They set off on the perilous voyage barely on speaking terms - but does their future hold more than either of them can imagine?
