It's Christmas, but Detective Inspector Kerry Cox isn't celebrating.

When the body of retired ex-copper Bill Radley is found, broken by a three-storey fall, his death is labelled as suicide. But Cox doesn't buy this explanation. Why was she called in on her day off? And why have the Ministry of Justice made an appearance?

Stubbornly ignoring pressures from above, she begins an investigation. But as the body count rises DI Cox is forced to team up with Greg Wilson, a journalist and romantic mistake she once made.
