The Night Before Second Grade

Grab your backpack and get ready for the second grade in the latest big moment to be celebrated in Natasha Wing's best-selling series!

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES • Putting an uplifting spin on a classic poem, this charmingly illustrated and lyrical picture book prepares kids—and their parents!—for all that second grade has to offer.

“T’was the night before second grade,
I was out with my friend.
We couldn’t believe summer vacation
Had come to an end.”

It's the night before a young boy's first day of second grade, and he's excited to start the new school year. He spent all summer reading, practicing his math, and preparing for the year ahead. But he still has some hesitations—like who will his new teacher be? And what will he learn?

With colorful illustrations, rhyming text, and a fun surprise at the end, this encouraging story about starting second grade helps both kids and their parents learn what to expect in the coming academic year.

The Night Before series helps young readers—and their parents!—explore big milestones in an encouraging, uplifting way.
