Mothering Sunday

Discover your new favourite forgotten classics with the Mermaid Collection – No 13: Noel Streatfeild's Mothering Sunday with a foreword by Daisy Buchanan

It’s going to be a surprise. Seventy-year-old widow Anna Caldwell’s grown-up children usually send her gifts, but this Sunday her five offspring will turn up at her door – unannounced.

It's all eldest daughter Jane’s idea. The others dare not argue. Though no one knows quite where black sheep of the family, Tony, has got to.

Yet Anna’s suspicious children have an ulterior motive. She’s been acting oddly lately, and this is the perfect excuse to check up on her.

Mothering Sunday is bound not to play out as anyone has planned. But will it be a day to remember, or one they’ll never forget?
