One of Judith Saxton's well-loved WWII sags reissued as 'Katie Flynn writing as Judith Saxton'
It wasn't a wealthy childhood, but it was a happy one, that of Sybil and Lizzie Cream and their big brother Georgie. Brought up in a fisherman's cottage on the edge of the Cold Sea, they were content to leave privilage where it belonged: with their friends the Wintertons. Chris Winterton was the same age as Sybil and the two girls were inseperable, but it was Lizzie whom Ralph Winterton, three years older, found irresistable. Then war came to East Anglia, and so did Fenn Kitzmann of the American Army Air Force, the Manchester boy who had run away to New York ten years before. At their first meeting he is atrracted by Sybil's subtle charm, but before he sees her again her own personal tragedy has struck, and he finds her changed almost out of recognition.
