In 2022, at the time of Brooke’s MS diagnosis, she was looking for a book that explored life with MS or chronic illnesses more generally, but she could not find one that really spoke to her. She was not after a medical guide, because she knew that part already.

Now, Brooke has written that book. It is not just for those living with a chronic illness, but their family, friends and allies.

Starting with her own account, this honest book also features stories about well-known Australian public figures, who will close the curtains on their often shiny, glamorous persona to reveal their very real and candid account of life with a chronic illness.

From Michael Klim and Jamila Rizvi by way of Osher Gunsberg and Bianca Wallace, they all share how they navigate their chronic illness in their daily life, with practical tools and strategies that others can apply to their lives to cope with similar challenges.

This book doesn't sugar-coat the reality, but it’s far from doom and gloom. Amid the tough moments, there is plenty of humour, lightness and warmth. Chronic illness is heavy, but these human stories are all filled with strength, compassion and even laughter.
