Billy is in serious trouble. He’s struggling with his shapeshifting lessons, there’s a werewolf out to get him and he’s got the school soccer trials tomorrow.

His best friend Jeanie is there to help, but how do you catch a werewolf when you don’t know who it is?

In a world where shop owners can turn into hamsters and teachers are trying to eat you, who can a ten-year-old were-dragon trust?

About the authors

Nick Falk

Nick is a practicing psychologist who lives with his wife and two young sons in London. He first picked up a pen aged seven, and has been writing ever since. He likes to write books that are two parts funny, three parts exciting and one part educational, with a dollop of fantastical thrown in. He first started making up stories for his two young sons when they were living by the beach in Tasmania, and 17 published books later, he’s still going strong!

Nick has 4 series of books on the shelves, all for children aged 6 to 10. Saurus Street, which is about time travelling dinosaurs; Billy is a Dragon, which is about shape-shifting were-beasts; Samurai vs Ninja, which is about shuriken-filled battles; and the ‘How To’ series, which is about kids getting horribly lost in history. Nick has lived and worked in Australia, the US and Asia, and arrived back in the UK in 2015.

Tony Flowers

Tony Flowers loves to draw and is an internationally acclaimed illustrator and artist. His drawings are loved in Japan for their detail and humour and he has won an award in the USA for his street chalk art.

Tony has a Masters degree in Visual Communication.

He has illustrated six books in the popular Saurus Street series and his most highly valued prize to date has been from the Oshima Picture Book Museum in Toyama, Japan, for his hand made pop-up book Gaijin Holiday.

Praise for Billy is a Dragon 2: Werewolves Beware!

Written at a fast clip, interspersed with eye-catching fonts to emphasise the mood and the meaning, this is a new series from the creators of Saurus Street written to capture the imaginations of those on the cusp of being independent readers and moving onto novels. Billy’s adventures will appeal to all those who can think of better ways to spend their days than being at school, secretly wishing the teacher would disappear in a puff of smoke – which is almost what happens when he sets her hair on fire as he morphs into a dragon in the classroom.

Barbara Braxton, OZTL_NET

Tony Flowers’ quirky illustrations are more than just decoration – they are an integral part of the story that teach as much as they tell. While they have a cartoon-like appearance, the detail in the diagrams and the accompanying text not only explain the story but also provide a model for the reader to produce their own.

Barbara Braxton, OZTL_NET

The authors create vivid images through exaggeration, humour, and detailed noun groups and verb groups. One of my favourite expressions from the story was ‘ a nose so sharp it could cut cheese.”
