A Quiet Day in the Jungle

A fabulously fun counting book with a glorious jungle setting!

Part of the My First Picture Book series: perfect for every toddler to help encourage language skills, understanding, enjoyment and sharing. These books are a bridge between board books and picture books; printed on toddler-tough card with rounded corners.

Explore a sleepy jungle setting, counting up the increasing number of animals until ten unruly puffer fish unleash chaos, leading to a rapid count down as the animals scatter. Little readers will love seeing how Cheeky Monkey's actions cause havoc -- can you spot him on every page?

The perfect way to discover counting.

About the Authors

Andrew Weale

Andrew Weale was born in Brighton where he spent most of his days with Buster the Dog, before he was packed off to Eastbourne College to be taught how to be a grown-up! He obviously did rather well as he gained a scholarship to Oxford University to study Latin and Greek! When his studies weren't getting in the way, he did the things he REALLY wanted to do: acting and singing. And when he left University he even set up his own theatre company, which allowed him to travel the world! Then one day he saw a clairvoyant who told him he'd become a writer... Several years later that's exactly what he's started doing, with a particular love for children's books. Andrew has now written 5 books for children, including his latest picture book, Nora. Andrew has also gone back to university, this time as a lecturer for an MA course on picture books, and he gives regular presentations on his work to everyone from the age of four upwards.

Britta Teckentrup

Britta Teckentrup was born in Hamburg, Germany. She later studied at St Martin's College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. Britta is the author and illustrator of many well-loved books for children, including Big Smelly Bear, Grumpy Cat and How Big is the World. She has illustrated over 30 Children's books which have been translated into many different languages. Her fine art work is frequently exhibited at her London gallery and at art fairs all over the world.
After 17 years in the UK, Britta now lives and works in Berlin.

Praise for A Quiet Day in the Jungle

“Vibrant...an appealing and entertaining way to help children to learn their numbers.”

Booktrust

“Superbly illustrated, encouraging one-to-one correspondence as children learn to count, this book makes a valuable resource to support most areas of the curriculum, but particularly lends itself to literacy, maths and art.”
