Tony Maniaty joined ABC News as a cadet journalist, and became European Correspondent for SBS Television's Dateline and Executive Producer of ABC TV's 7.30 Report. He has published two acclaimed novels, The Children Must Dance (1984) and Smyrna (1989, short-listed for the Miles Franklin Award), and a memoir, All Over the Shop (1993). He holds a Masters Degree in Media and is currently senior lecturer in international journalism at the University of Technology, Sydney.
