Stardome Observatory Planetarium

Book for an event

Opening as an Observatory in March 1967, Stardome is considered one of the Auckland region's most popular and best loved attractions. Building its own Planetarium in 1997, it is the largest and most advanced planetarium in New Zealand, and one of few in the world co-located with a publicly accessible observatory. Stardome's mission is to inspire, challenge and educate about astronomy and space sciences. Stardome offers its visitors a unique experience combining learning with entertainment.

David Britten is an Astronomy Educator at Stardome. He is regularly called on by the media to comment on celestial events, drawing on many years of experience explaining astronomical concepts in ways easily understood by the public.
