Sami Shah

Sami Shah is a multi-award-winning comedian, writer and broadcaster. His memoir, I, Migrant, was shortlisted for the NSW, Victorian and Western Australian premiers’ literary awards, as well as the Russell Prize for Humour Writing. His novel Boy of Fire and Earth was praised by Kamila Shamsie, Maxine Beneba Clarke and Saladin Ahmed, and his nonfiction book The Islamic Republic of Australia has been taught at universities. His narrative audio drama The Missed won both an Australian Podcast Award and the AWGIE Award for Best Fiction Podcast. Sami hosts the satirical news podcast News Weakly, lectures in journalism at the University of Melbourne, and holds a PhD examining news satire. He has also served as curator of the OzAsia Weekend of Words.
