Born in Eastern Tibet in 1952, Ringu Tulku is a Tibetan Buddhist teacher whose scholarship, fluent English, and entertaining, responsive teaching style have become popular among students of Buddhism throughout the world. He is the director of seven meditation centers in Europe, the United States, and India, and he travels and teaches extensively in Europe and the United States.
He earned the degree ofacharya (senior teacher) at Varanasi University and the title ofkhenpo (expert) was conferred upon him by the 1611' Karmapa. He later earned his Ph.D. from the International Nyingma Society. He has been a university professor ofTibetology for seventeen years and a visiting professor at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, for five years.
