Martin Rees is one of the world’s leading cosmologists and astrophysicists. He is Emeritus Professor at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow and former Master of Trinity College, Cambridge. He was Astronomer Royal from 1995 to 2025, President of the Royal Society from 2005 to 2010, and sits as a crossbench peer in the House of Lords. His books include Just Six Numbers, Our Final Century, On the Future and Before the Beginning. In 2012, he co-founded the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk in Cambridge with a mission to explore how to reduce the risks of global catastrophes.
