The Newborn Sleep Book

Parenting a newborn is virtually synonymous with sleeplessness and fatigue. How-to books about infant sleep sell hundreds of thousands of copies each year to an audience desperate to find help. Yet sleepless nights, anxiety, apprehension, and stress prevail, and new parents resolve themselves to the inevitability of it all.

One of the main reasons for this is that the existing methods and books recommend that sleep training begin not at birth but months later. This book is the first and only guide to lay out in detail a sleep program for newborns from the moment they come home from the hospital. Developed and refined by two pediatricians (brothers) who run a successful pediatrics practice on Long Island, the "Jassey Way" boasts a more than 90% success rate of getting children to sleep through the night prior to their one month birthday. Unlike many sleep experts, the Jasseys condone allowing a newborn to sleep through the night, so long as its nutritional needs are being satisfied on a 24-hour basis.

With clear advice and useful examples, the book will include considerations for breastfed and formula-fed babies. It will dispel common misconceptions about frequency of feedings as well as potential "harm" in letting a baby cry for a defined period of time in order to establish a routine. It will describe in detail how to gradually move from the current situation (whatever that may be) toward the end-game: at least 7 hours of continuous sleep at night and feedings every 4 hours during the day. In addition, the book will discuss tips and tricks to create an environment that fosters sleep, including swaddling, pacifiers, lighting, sounds, and more.

Safe, proven, and straightforward, the Jassey Way offers the fastest path to a sound night's sleep -- for babies and parents.
