Jonathan Lichtenstein

Jonathan Lichtenstein was born in 1957 and raised in mid-Wales. He worked as an agricultural labourer before joining the North Sea rigs in 1978. After three years of rig work he took a degree in Drama at Bretton Hall, eventually becoming Professor of Drama at the University of Essex. He is now an award-winning playwright and the author of a previous book, The Berlin Shadow: Escaping the Ghosts of the Kindertransport. He lives with his wife in Wivenhoe, a village on the Essex Marshes. They have three children.
