Francine Toon grew up in Portugal and London until the age of 8, when she moved to Scotland to live in the Highlands and then St Andrews, before attending Edinburgh University. Her poetry, written under the pen name Francine Elena, has appeared in The Sunday Times, The Best British Poetry 2013 and 2015 anthologies (Salt), Poetry London, Poetry Wales, Ambit, 3:AM magazine, Furies anthology (For Books Sake) and Poems for a World Gone to Sh*t (Quercus, March 18). Her unpublished pamphlet was shortlisted for the PigHog Poetry Prize in 2014 and her chapbook Christmas Lantern was published by 3:AM Press. She is an editor at Sceptre.
