Elise Gravel was born in Montreal in 1977, where she now lives with her two daughters, husband, cats, and a few spiders. She started to draw not long after birth, and became very talented at drawing muscles and chest hair in high school, which came in handy later on when she illustrated The Great Antonio. She has written and illustrated more than 30 books, which have been translated into a dozen languages.
