Dymocks Literary Lunch with Anna Johnston

Anna was set to graduate from a medical degree when her grandfather was diagnosed with dementia. To spend more time with him she decided to get a job in his nursing home She became the social support coordinator, challenging the stereotypes of what older people are capable of. When injury left her unable to work in aged care, she started writing about it.

Her new book When Lemons Give You Life, follows retired Michelin-star chef Griff Barlow who is done with life and breaks into the kitchen of his Aged Care Facility to bake himself one last tart. It’s supposed to be his final meal, but the act of cooking stirs a dormant joy.
