About
Join us when we welcome Geoff Parkes to celebrate the launch of his second novel, The First Law of the Bush. Geoff will be in conversation on the evening with Barbie Robinson of Living Arts Canberra.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Ten years on from the events of Geoff Parkes’ captivating debut When The Deep, Dark Bush Swallows You Whole, The First Law of the Bush takes us back to the small town of Nashville in New Zealand’s wild King Country.
When Bill Dickerson plunges to his death from a viaduct, his widow Carol is left desperate for answers - was it suicide, an accident, or murder? She hires lawyer Ryan Bradley, newly returned to Nashville, to uncover the truth. With a lineup of corrupt police, irresponsible co-workers and unhelpful witnesses, the case seems hopeless. But in small towns, everyone has something to hide - and asking the wrong question could be deadly.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Born and raised in rural New Zealand, Geoff Parkes now lives in Melbourne. For the last twelve years he’s written a weekly opinion column for The Roar, Australia’s leading online sports website. He is the author of When the Deep, Dark Bush Swallows You Whole and The First Law of the Bush, both featuring emerging lawyer, Ryan Bradley. Geoff Parkes’ stunning sophomore novel The First Law of the Bush is clever, atmospheric, chilling and will keep you guessing right until the very end.
