Join us for an evening with award-winning portrait artist and author Vincent Fantauzzo, as he shares the remarkable true story behind his memoir, Unveiled. This special event will feature Vincent in conversation with magazine journalist Robyn Doreian, followed by an audience Q&A and a chance to purchase a signed copy of the book.
Unveiled traces Vincent’s unlikely journey from the violent streets of working-class Melbourne to the walls of prestigious galleries around the world. Kicked out of school at fourteen, virtually illiterate, and battling undiagnosed dyslexia, Vincent forged a tough exterior to survive. Behind it, though, was a creative, sensitive spirit determined to break free of a cycle of dysfunction and create something meaningful.
With humour, heart, and honesty, Vincent will speak about his early life marked by trauma and poverty, his struggles with learning and self-doubt, and the pivotal moment when he used forged documents to get into art school—setting him on a path that would change everything. From painting iconic portraits of Heath Ledger and Asher Keddie to winning the Archibald People’s Choice Award four times, Vincent’s story is one of defiance, resilience, and radical reinvention.
The conversation, guided by Robyn Doreian, will give audiences a behind-the-scenes look at Vincent’s life, his artistic process, and the stories behind some of his most famous works. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session, allowing you to ask Vincent your own questions about his life, art, or memoir.
Copies of Unveiled will be available for purchase on the night from Fairfield Books, with the opportunity to have your copy signed by Vincent.
