About

Join us to hear David Dyer in conversation.

Dyer wrote the bestselling book The Midnight Watch in 2016 which was based on the true story of the SS Californian, the ship that saw the Titanic's distress rockets and yet, unfathomably, did nothing.

His new book This Kingdom of Dust is a reimagining of the famous 1969 moon landing. One of the main concerns at the time was the astronauts becoming stuck on the Moon. If their spaceship broke down, there was no hope of rescue. The men would slowly run out of oxygen, while the whole world watched.

The novel explores what would have happened had this horrifying scenario come true. It not only looks at the astronauts themselves, but their wives at home for who gender stereotypes and expectations could be just as confining as the tiny spacecraft in which their husbands flew.

Book

This Kingdom of Dust
'Pacy, exciting and often unexpectedly moving storytelling.' THE AUSTRALIAN Like the moon landing itself, a feat of enormous ingenuity imagining the lives of the Apollo mission heroes, and those on planet earth in the tumultuous 1960s.
