About

Join Margaret Hickey in conversation with fellow rural crime writer, Michael Trant.

Margaret Hickey is an award-winning author and playwright from North East Victoria. She has a PhD in Creative Writing and is deeply interested in rural lives and communities. She is the author of Cutters End, Stone Town and Broken Bay. Her new novel, The Creeper, will be released in June 2024.

Michael Trant is a WA country boy who writes with an authentic rural voice, drawing on his experiences on the vast farms of the WA Wheatbelt. He is the author of Ridgeview Station, Wild Dogs and No Trace.

The Creeper is set in the small mountain town of Edenville in Victoria’s high country. For the last decade the town has been haunted by the horrific murders of five hikers up on Jagged Ridge. Also found dead near the scene was Bill ‘Creeper’ Durant, a bushland loner, expert deer-hunter, and a man with a known reputation for stalking campers... Conclusion: murder-suicide. Case closed. But as the ten-year anniversary of the massacre draws near, Detective Constable Sally White finds herself drawn into the dark world of the notorious Durant family...

Books sales and signing will be available on the night.
