Michael Trant is a WA country boy now residing in Perth after a variety of careers ranging from farmer, marine draftsman, pastoralist and FIFO pot washer. Michael writes with an authentic rural voice, drawing on his experiences to open readers to places and lifestyles foreign to many. He has a passion for farming, writing, and gaming, the order of which vary throughout the year. He still works on farms as a tractor driver, mainly to annoy those teachers who claimed no one would pay him to stare out a window all day. He is also the author of Ridgeview Station and Wild Dogs.
About the Book:
Gabe Ahern has been in hiding. The media storm that followed his uncovering of a huge outback drug- and people-smuggling operation has left him with a target on his back. But his plans to lay low, working on his old friend’s cattle station, are short-lived. As the tourists start to arrive on Goldmont Station, Gabe is easily recognised as the reluctant hero from the papers. Only that’s not all he’s recognised for.
When the flood waters start rising, the remote station is cut off from the rest of civilisation. And then a series of strange coincidences occur. A helicopter accident, an electrical fire that disconnects the phone and internet. That’s when they find the body.
Michael Trant expertly combines pulse-pounding action and hard-hitting themes, all set against a rugged Western Australian backdrop. In No Trace we see Gabe working to overcome his demons, some more raw than others. Through this Michael sensitively portrays a gruff bushman coming to terms with his conscience, his fears and his struggles with PTSD.
