About

A dazzling love letter to gaming and friendship, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by American novelist Gabrielle Zevin has become a word-of-mouth bestseller across the globe. It follows two university friends who become creative partners in a brilliantly imagined world of video game design, where success brings fame, joy and tragedy. Gabrielle chats with Melanie Kembrey about her lifelong love of gaming, what her novel reveals about the importance of play and the many ways we forge human connections, and why she hoped to illuminate the early days of a vast entertainment industry often overlooked by bookworms.

This event is fitted with assistive listening systems.

Gabrielle Zevin (International)

Gabrielle Zevin is the internationally bestselling and critically acclaimed author of The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry; the prizewinning children’s book, Elsewhere; and several other novels. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is being developed into a feature film by Temple Hill and Paramount Studios, and the movie version of A. J. Fikry, for which Zevin wrote the adaptation, is currently in production in Massachusetts. Zevin was born in New York and is the daughter of a Korean mum and an Eastern European Jewish dad, who both spent their careers working with computers. Her dad wanted her to work in computers, too, and this book is probably as close as she will ever come. She is a screenwriter, an occasional critic, and a graduate of Harvard University. Zevin currently splits her time between Los Angeles and Stardew Valley, where she owns a farm on a once rocky plot of land.

Melanie Kembrey (Australian)

Melanie Kembrey has been a journalist at The Sydney Morning Herald for more than a decade and is currently editor of arts and culture publication Spectrum.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
Stylish and open-hearted, this is a very different kind of love story, elevated and energised by being set in the world of creativity and video gaming
