Yes Prime Minister: Volume 3

Yes Prime Minister was the equally funny and successful follow-up to Jonathan Lynn and Antony Jay's hit series Yes Minister. At the end of that series the well-meaning but incompetent Jim Hacker (Paul Eddington), steered by the invisible cunning of Sir Humphrey (Nigel Hawthorne) finally made it to Number Ten, on the back of (so to speak) the Eurosausage. The show's portrayal of political life was famously enjoyed by the then actual occupant of Number Ten, Margaret Thatcher. These four episode showcase the wonderfully dry wit of the series. In 'A Real Partnership', there is a financial crisis looming for the government - but the Civil Service has been promised a pay rise. 'A Victory for Democracy' leaves Hacker wondering if the Foreign Office exists to carry out Government Policy, or vice versa. In 'The Patron of the Arts', Hacker accepts an invitation to be guest of honour at the annual British Theatre Awards dinner - while planning a less-than-generous grant for the Arts Council. And in 'The National Education Service', when the PM threatens to abolish the Department of Education and Science, Sir Humphrey is forced to intervene...
